Best Car till now , good Range of 300 plus on highway , good DC Charing but Groud Clearnace

Jaecoo J5
Jaecoo J5

The Jaecoo J5 EV has quickly become a standout choice for the roads of Nepal, and as an owner, I am thoroughly impressed. The most striking aspect of this vehicle is undoubtedly its design. It carries a sophisticated, \"mini Range Rover\" aesthetic that feels far more premium and rugged than its price tag suggests. Whether I am navigating the busy streets of Kathmandu or parked at a local cafe, the J5 is a genuine head-turner. I constantly notice people stopping to admire its sleek lines and modern lighting; it truly makes a bold statement wherever it goes. The driving experience is where the car really proves its worth. The 155kW motor provides instant torque, which is perfect for stop-and-go traffic and the occasional steep climbs we face on our hills. I am highly satisfied with the performance; it feels smooth, quiet, and effortless. Furthermore, the range has been a major highlight. With the 58.9kWh battery offering a solid 400km (WLTP), I can manage my daily commutes for several days on a single charge. This provides great confidence for longer trips. Inside, the cabin is a tech-lover\\\'s dream. The 13.2-inch portrait touchscreen is intuitive and the \\\"EcoClean\\\" upholstery is perfect for our environment. However, while the car itself is nearly perfect, the public charging network in Nepal definitely needs to be improved. Finding high-speed DC chargers outside the valley remains a challenge. Overall, I am a very happy owner of the J5.

Jaecoo J5
Jaecoo J5

I’m the owner of the Jaecoo J5 EV, and I can confidently say it’s a perfect electric vehicle for its price. The exterior design is bold and premium β€” it honestly gives off a Range Rover-like vibe, and it always grabs attention on the road. The interior is just as impressive. It’s beautifully designed, comfortable, and feels upscale. The layout is user-friendly, and the car is very easy and smooth to drive, whether in the city or on longer trips. The only thing I feel the company should improve is the charging network. The car itself is excellent, but investing more in charging infrastructure would make the ownership experience even better. Overall, the Jaecoo J5 EV is truly value for money, and I’m very happy with my decision.

Citron EC3
Citron EC3

I bought a Citroen EC3 three months ago and have driven it extensively, including on highways. On average, it gives 220-230 km, and on uphill drives, it manages around 180-190 km. Even though it’s a hatchback, it feels like an SUV when you drive it, giving you a confident driving experience. The car has a good look, which is one of the reasons I chose it. **Pros:** – Comfortable ride – Good suspension – Neat and clean interior **Cons:** – Lacks basic features like electric ORVM – Digital instrument cluster is very basic and needs improvement The service was very prompt; when my car wouldn’t start due to not being used for a while, I called the service center, and they arrived at my home and fixed it within hours. The company should also install more charging centers. Overall, I’m satisfied with the car and would recommend it.

BYD Atto 1
BYD Atto 1

I ve driven around 1,500 km so far with the Atto 1 Premium (38.8 kWh), and overall the experience has been quite good. Range & Charging Real-world range on a full charge is 290–350 km, depending on driving conditions. On DC fast charging, I’ve seen speeds go up to 41.24 kW, which is higher than the officially claimed rate. Drove Kathmandu to Butwal on a single charge and still had 20% battery remaining, giving an effective range of about 320 km. On the return journey (Butwal to Kathmandu, uphill), the range dropped to around 290 km, which is expected. From Kurintar to Kathmandu (110 km), it consumed about 39% battery, reasonable for hilly terrain. Driving Experience Very easy and comfortable to drive, especially in city traffic. Ground clearance is good, but the approach angle is low, so care is needed on potholes and steep speed breakers. Initial torque in Eco mode feels slightly underpowered, though other modes perform better. Smooth, fatigue-free driving overall. Design & Practicality Front LED headlights feel a bit weak, especially for highway night driving. Boot space is small, which may be a limitation for long trips. Car width feels slightly narrow compared to competitors. Post-Sales Support & Charging Network Post-sales support cannot be commented on yet, as there has been no need so far. However, the BYD charging network is still quite poor compared to other EV brands. Considering BYD is one of the highest-selling EV brands, there is a strong need to improve charging infrastructure and network coverage. Pros βœ… Excellent real-world battery range βœ… Fast charging better than claimed βœ… Easy and comfortable to drive βœ… Capable of long highway drives Cons ❌ Charging network needs major improvement ❌ Boot space is limited ❌ Headlights could be brighter ❌ Eco mode torque feels weak

⚑

Charger Types

Understanding the four connector standards available in Nepal

CCS2

Combined Charging System 2

Global DC fast-charging standard. Supports both AC and DC in one connector. Typically 30–150 kW. Used by most modern European and international EVs.

GBT

GB/T (Chinese Standard)

Chinese national DC charging standard. Very common in Nepal given the high proportion of Chinese EVs and electric buses. Typically 30–120 kW.

AC

AC Type 2 / Slow Charge

Standard alternating-current charger using Type 2 (Mennekes) or similar connectors. Slower (3.3–22 kW) but widely compatible. Great for overnight or workplace charging.

15A Plug

Standard 15A Socket

A regular industrial 15-ampere socket. The slowest option but universally available. Suitable for small EVs, e-bikes, or as an emergency trickle charge for any EV.

⚑

Don't know your connector? Check your EV's manual or the port shape on your car. Most Nepal-sold BYD, MG, and Hyundai models use CCS2. Yutong and other Chinese buses typically use GBT. Older imports may only support AC Type 2.

❓

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions

How do I know if a charger is compatible with my EV? +
Open the station details and check the charger list. It shows each charger's type (CCS2, GBT, AC, 15A Plug), power in kW, and number of guns. Match the type against your car's charging port. If unsure, consult your EV manual or contact the operator using the phone number in the station details.
The map is not showing my location correctly. What should I do? +
Make sure location permission is granted for the site in your browser settings. On mobile, ensure GPS is enabled. The Near Me feature uses your device's GPS β€” if you're indoors or in a valley, accuracy may be lower. Try refreshing the page and granting location access again.
Can I add a new charging station that isn't listed? +
Yes! Use the Add Station form β€” no account or registration needed. You can pin the location on a Google Maps widget, enter the address, charger specs, and operator details. Submissions are reviewed before being published on the map. See the "Add a Charging Station" section above for step-by-step instructions.
How current is the station status information? +
Station statuses are community-reported and updated in real time as drivers check in or report issues. The bell alert panel refreshes every 20 seconds. For the most accurate picture, check the timestamp on recent check-ins and read the latest comments.
Push notifications aren't working. How do I fix this? +
First, check that your browser supports push notifications (Chrome, Edge, and Firefox on desktop/Android are best supported; Safari on iOS has limited support). Go to your browser's site settings and confirm that notifications are set to "Allow" for this site. Then open any station and tap "Notify Me" again to re-subscribe.
Why does the Route Planner sometimes not find a route? +
The Route Planner uses OpenStreetMap routing data via the OSRM API. Very remote locations may have incomplete road data. Try using a nearby town name instead of a specific address, or adjust your start/destination slightly. Nepal's road network is continually improving in OpenStreetMap.
Is my data private when I submit a review? +
Your name and comment are displayed publicly. Your email is stored privately and is never shown on the site. If you prefer complete anonymity, tick the Anonymous checkbox when submitting β€” your review will appear as "Anonymous" on the station page.
What does the charger "gun" count mean? +
A "gun" refers to a single charging cable/connector at a station. A station might have 2 CCS2 guns, meaning two vehicles can charge using CCS2 simultaneously. The total gun count tells you the maximum number of vehicles that can charge at once.
Which app do I need to charge at a specific station? +
Open the station's detail panel on the map and check the operator name. Then download the corresponding app β€” NEA Charge (for NEA stations), GadiCharge, Yatri Energy, Electriva, or EI Charge (Aircharge) depending on the network. See the "Download Charging Apps" section above for direct download links.
